Exam Technique

For many candidates, the Multiple Choice Cloze is less a test of isolated vocabulary than of how words (0) COMBINE in authentic English. Success depends not merely on knowing dictionary definitions, but on recognising the collocations, fixed phrases and subtle distinctions that native speakers take for granted. A well-prepared student will therefore pay close attention to the company words keep, noticing which verbs (1) .......... naturally with particular nouns and which prepositions are required after certain adjectives.
